Actors Grind

Week two was a good one as the UE cast began exploring the characters a little more. Beginning the session as usual,we had a discussion concerning how each person felt towards the character they would be portraying. For many they already saw the relation of how these characters can be someone in their lives. From utilizing life events many saw themselves as a mother loosing her child or a trash man or teacher talking to kids trying to help them onto a straight path. With the vision of stepping in these shoes life was able to be brought to these characters.

For the vets reprising roles was both easy and hard as it becomes a moment of generating that emotional felling back up but first it needed to be summoned through the memory of words to cast life once again.

In some cases it became more of a call to stepping up that would prove to be the challenge as it would be more so about them being able to lead and getting others to follow. However as the path is laid out seeing the emotion of all will prove to be the tops of the actors grind.

The Art of Telling a Story

There is a place of understanding when it comes to writing and Kash has shown that when it’s in honesty people will come out to see it. Over the weekend I had the honor of taking in Mr. Goins play VtoX with an ensemble cast that showed they have what it takes to bring characters to life this show about the many faces that are placed into the judicial system all connect in someway as we learn that this is and always will be big business. What audience, this was definitely worth as wild as it was shown in and interactive state allowing them to be part of the action and with in the breath of the play for many it is probably ring true to home with stories surrounding rape molestation wrongful incarceration abuse and again business. These stories were made to make you cry make you laugh and more than anything make you think to wear as you only can see one thing and that is the truth within the story.

Another Day Comes

And she began her day like many others

Clinging onto jacket and bag

Throwing on outfits to match the 8hrs of stress to come

Contemplating when the money will equal

Feeling the need to go forward

When she just wants to go back

Remove all the layers

Jump into quilted arms

Drift off into a land of dreams
And he sits

Thinking of the time past

Wishing for a good book

Looking for a way out

Not wanting to be apart of the nightmare called life

He wanted to be able to

Close lids and see the darkness beneath the skins layer as eyes roll back and forth catching a new dream

Drifting off into a land…

Let the Sky Speak

Sometimes you can’t resist that moment

That feeling when the sky opens up And says to you everything will be ok

That I can get through the day notion

That you can do anything feeling

That I’m on top of the world appeal

That it’s a healing moment

Sometimes the sky talks

You just have to look up and see it speak..

The Wait

Tick tock

Tick tock

Slowly the time paces

People move

But motion of slow

All just looking up

At a board filled with destinations

Slowly moving up in a shuffle

Heads and eyed follow

For some

these moments are about rest

For the travel holds content

Books, ink , phones, and thought

Tick tock

Tick tock

We grab our belongings

Shuffle towards stairs

Leading down a narrow path

Many push forward to gain a seat

Close eyes to find more time to

Tick tock….

Forgotten Humbles

So I’ve been listening to “How Much a Dollar Cost” by Kendrick Lamar for over two weeks and my mind keeps going through states of images and seeing Reef the Lost Cauze with equal material. The understanding of what we see and do to one another for money and shun those without has a lot to say about us as humans. We spend so much time fighting to survive that the sight of the world becomes shark infested and we become blind to what we say and do because the story often takes moments back to it being about I but is it really….

New York State of Mind

“When you talk about a great actor, you’re not talking about Tom Cruise.”
Lauren Bacall

Every actors wants to be noticed for a great performance but truth is many think of having a horrible moment over actually doing well first. Funny thing about getting in front of an audience is they know whats good and whats bad in your performance. As many of the cast mates took to the stage at the Cool Stories Vol 1 Fest some were as nervous as me when we walked in and saw that we were actually in NY to show what we can do. From person to person i watched as they took the time to allow the presence to seep into each performance and allow the feat to become the lead into a moment where the crowd then saw what they can do. In the end, they received the claps the cheers and the bow that all actors great and amateur want total appreciation for what they do..
