Underground 2017

Over the weekend we wrapped up underground episode. This was a test on how to run a show for two weeks and I must say there was a lot to be learned but it is definitely worth it. First things first, the cast compose of both veterans and newbies with a short timeframe of two months to learn probably one of the most challenging work that some of them have been a part of. For many including myself it was jumping from one production to another that was a challenge however for others it was just coming in and beginning the task at hand.

This time around we utilized collaborating with makeup artist Andrea Blassingame to create the looks, set up radio time for interviews, bloggers, and paid advertising in the metro Philly to get the word out on the production. We also utilized the site which the facility used instead of going the eventbrite way.

It was scary but I had to see what we could do and the end result turned out to be what we wanted. Now we are gearing up for next year to actually take advantage of all we learned.

The beauty of it all was swing how no matter what RunBoyRunProduction still continues to grow as a family and in the end this makes for good business.

Sisters United

If you didn’t know runboyrunprod is involved in everything. Last night was about the stage play #mysisterskeeper part of the #thinkcreateinspire festival with director writer Jody ‘Tru Story’ Austin assistant directors Tiffani Dean and Antoine K D Stroman. With an all woman cast covering powerful and emotional subjects, these women proved that #poetictheater is here to stay.

For Jody this was a dream come true as she took the moments of pain noticed in all women’s lives and made it a journey of sisterhood that could not be denied.

Covering matters of mental, physical and emotional abuse, self perseverance, body images, social awareness, equal rights and many more this play has answered the called that women have been waiting for and is the beginning of a journey that will go beyond the stage.

Take a bow ladies for the night is yours and the road has just begun.

Stone

As men often we are looked at as the stronger sex able to handle all obstacles and take any form of pain that comes our way. Truth be told we are no different from a woman. We want to be loved?”,understood, appreciated and heard. However in relationships we aren’t supposed to show who we really are even if ones mate says that you can be yourself completely. Funny moments happen when a man finally let’s his guard down to his mate often he is met with words like “man up,” “be a real man,” but what’s being missed is that he is and with the assumption that he can finally open up to someone he then reverts back into his shell and becomes the tortes that life only wants to acknowledge. So when you have that moment to finally heT his inner voice see his inner soul let it be ok for it will be a new beginning and the beginning of a prosperous relationship. LOVE

News Flash

Rehearsal moment and Donna Griggs is putting on a marvelous performance as a mother in despair in “Missing News”

There is nothing worse then the fear and loss of a child. In many cases we never hear the stories of these children but we do see there faces on Facebook or on poles in the inner city but not on the news. The sad thing about media is it can hold a bias to what it shows and over the years those stories of missing minority children had fallen short. With that being said, it is up to us the everyday person to continue putting out Amber alerts in our own way till we see complete change in this missing news view…

As we draw closer to the play, we have picked up new members and practice is going well. Talents are putting their all into not only the words but the development of characters. In this scene Krissy Bogle is going over Movement and believe me her action and presence will be one to grab attention of the audience and that’s what talent is about making words become real before your eyes..

Lost Soul Syndrome

IMG_4835.JPG

We live in a future that the average minority youth believes his life has a limitation. For many that means never seeing pass the ghetto, never imagining themselves as college graduates, never envisioning living, loving, breathing or just being. These thoughts are not limited to black or Latino children but many minority children within inner cities. The need for positive role models should not be limited to sports players or those in entertainment but even the Brother managing a bodega, the brother getting a masters in science to change the world, the brother working as a teacher in a system that wants to give up on children and the brother sitting in the park with his kids and lady teaching them how to ride a bike. Truth is these are the images that can change a life, these are images that resemble real life, these are the images many need to understand these men have a strive worth becoming why because it involves integrity, consciousness and wanting to build. These are images that speak choice and tell you what you can become and that you can climb out of the syndrome of lost souls…

Links to a Chain

“Underground Episodes” part of the FringeArtsFestival playing at the Philadelphia Art Alliance

Last night my cousins came over for a teleconference which was filled with good news. It’s nice when you connect with like minded people that are about lifting each other out the barrel over stepping on and over you. For a business such as entertainment it is believed that most people utilizing the theory to do for self over doing for each other first. Truth is in entertainment there are communities of people that help each other look at Ben Affleck, Kevin Smith, and Matt Damon they used a friendship to help build there careers and with that understand the strength in numbers spirit is simple working towards one goal with others can prove to be better link made on a chain.

The Beauty of Live Theater

With live theater there is a greatness to it watching actors and actress become characters and identities that they probably couldn’t see themselves as. However the other side to this is watching g an audience become enthralled with the scene and in many cases wondering what’s going to happen next while identifying with the actors character. It is in the live setting that entertainers learn more about themselves as well as the craft of acting.
