Today’s a good day

Yesterday was the beginning of rehearsal that almost didn’t happen. For a few days I was trying to contact someone over at 1812 to let them know we have the check for the studio and to see if someone was going to be there. I never received an email or call to reaffirm because I already had the dates time and cast coming I figured I’d rake a chance on someone being there. It was hot as all but an easy travel but when I got to the building it was dark and my feelings and emotion went into panic mode. Inch by inch step by step as I got closer my emotions were running high and then boom the door opened and rehearsal was on!

Entertainment has no age limits

Entertainment has no age limits

Last week I went to see a play called “Scorned” here in Philly and on the way home the train was packed with people coming from other theater events when I saw this lady take a seat pull out a program from the ballet. Although she was alone it made me think that age and entertainment has no boundaries. Most people might think that at a certain age gong out and enjoying life has to end but she proves in this moment that a person can still enjoy and appreciate the finer things in life even when others around you tend to be younger and enjoying the art as you. Truth is she may come with a boat load of I formation and stories about dancers and shows that someone younger can only appreciate.

Pocket time

Pocket time

You ever sit on a subway train and not want to get up when the seat heats up? It’s like not wanting to give into the problems awaiting you at work or home but its very helpful in de-stressing the time. Often I find myself closing my eyes and giving into the warmth accepting it as if I was in the sun soaking in rays of light even just for a moment of joy. Looking forward to the summer time in Florida, the Caribbean or in Vegas just knowing I don’t have to get up for work or deal with the winter cold even just for a moment.

Man it’s one of those moments that you can only get when your ready for it and in that minute as you sit you are ready for calm, for peace, for it never to end. It’s good on those days when you are full of aches an pains of the flu and just waiting to get home in bed. It’s good in those mornings when all you want to do is rest. It’s the best feeling in the world but like all good things it comes to an end. The 15 minutes of electric relaxation with headphones on and it only cost a token, a moment of time…

Silencing the Noise in 2014

Silencing the Noise in 2014

Instagram, facebook, the vine, linkedin, emails, text messages, phone calls, etc even though these things don’t make outward noise like horns beeping on a 76 in mid-day traffic, these things do make noise in your mind. With everything today being so fast-paced, instantaneous, and overwhelming, do we as people ever really get a chance to silence the noise? Back in the day weekends were the “weekends”, days off, time with family, do things of leisure, but now when do we ever have time off. Businesses are 24/7 and your boss wants you there every day with no breaks. I find myself fighting for a piece of mind and that’s usually near my bedtime when I don’t even have any fight in me. Silencing the noise and ruckus of what the world wants you to believe and become is important, which is money making machines, literally. With all the noise we forget the simple things is what can bring us eminent joy, like being with family, enjoying a book, writing poetry, and the most scary thing “turning off your phone”. People forgot what peace feels like, that’s why people can’t go without their phone, making angry status about not having a phone and to inbox them on facebook. People don’t even realize through all the noise we look to everything on our phone to validate us, whether it is likes on a pic, comments under a video, or a text from a certain someone. The noise is so loud that we can’t even fathom that it is weakening our foundation and strength as individuals to make intelligent decisions sometimes because we are so consumed by the noise. So try silencing the noise every now and then, you’ll be shocked by what you hear within you, you’ll find all your answers you’ve been looking for.Image
